#210OD – The Artists
Now as you may or may not have been aware, at the beginning of the month we kicked off our rather ambitious but equally exciting project 2 To The Power 10 for the Bloomsbury Festival in association with CASS Art and The British Postal Museum Archive.
We’re attempting to exhibit 1024 creatives here in the gallery, having launched the project with 32 artists of whom are connected to the area and/or our gallery. We’re going to be shedding some light on those involved over the coming weeks. Here are 5 of the 32 of whom we launched the project with.
Suzannah Pettigrew (Over It & Co.)
Suzannah Pettigrew is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in London. A former student of interior architecture, spatial and fine art, Suzannah’s diverse background is reflected in her use of paint, print, montage and installation media. She uses art to explore the seductive and ephemeral nature of modern existence through the themes of love, loss, death and desire. Often presented with a satirical disposition, her work carries deeply-rooted political undertones. Aiming not only to provide a modern day social commentary but also to promote humanitarian values.
Check out a sneak peak of what Suzannah has got in-store for the project
Robbies Brown Shoes (Puck Collective)
UK illustrator and Space Viking Robbies Brown Shoes. Warps reality and plays with Brain stems by trying to get off with your Optic nerves.
A member of one of the hottest properities of London’s Graphic Art scene, Robbie’s wit and satire shines throughout his work. We’re certainly excited to see what he comes up with for #210OD
Nicholas Jeeves is a heteronymic artist and designer. Rather than create projects for himself, instead he inhabits the characters of other people, conjured from imagination, cast in immaculate roles and ignorant of his own history.
For #210OD Nicholas will take on the guise of Catafiore. Castafiore is a pan-dimensional mapmaker, working across time, space and imagination to expand new territories. His unfinished map of Nova Blemondisberi was drawn in ink and features notable landmarks provided by the recipients of the postcards.
Artist and owner of Cosmo China, Josie runs a delightful collective of artists hand-decorating bone china in the heart of Bloomsbury. the shop has been running for over twenty years, and their decorative touch is being lent to the #210OD project.
Here is a sneak peak at what Josie has been up to
Jacob was the first artist to exhibit at the Orange Dot and it’s wonderful to have him onboard for the project. Bringing a rather different flair to the project, his creative touch is slightly different to the designers and makers already on board. The photographer has recently ventured into film and his latest short French Exchange which has been particularly well received.
We received an image of one of the cards he has sent out already and Ben Farleigh added the Bees to the card he was sent, we’re intrigued to see the other 31!
Keep checking the blog for further information on the artists involved and the progress to date.
